A partial denture is often a convenient and effective option for replacing the basic function of multiple teeth lost to severe gum disease, untreated cavities, or significant dental trauma. The removable dental appliance is designed to closely match the shape and location of the missing teeth.

Many people with a partial denture also like to bond it to the structure of their gums with a modest amount of denture adhesive. If you do, the adhesive will need to be compensated for throughout the course of your day. If some food material manages to work its way in you should thoroughly rinse the unit and reapply a fresh bead of adhesive.

You should also thoroughly rinse the partial denture at the end of the day. This will help to clear away residual denture adhesive while also providing a fresh surface for the next morning.

The partial denture will also need to be brushed with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a nonabrasive toothpaste each evening. Once this is done you should sock in water and store it in a safe place. You can complete your daily oral hygiene routine of brushing and flossing.
