You probably know that your wisdom teeth usually erupt after all of your other teeth, generally between the ages of sixteen and twenty years old. Since your wisdom teeth are the last to come in, there often isn’t enough room for them to erupt properly. This can lead to a number of serious complications.

Your wisdom teeth could become impacted, or trapped beneath your gum line. As you may have guessed, an impacted tooth can lead to several serious complications. For example, if your tooth is impacted, the surrounding gums could become swollen and irritated. Similarly, this impacted tooth may also push against your other teeth, causing them to shift.

One common solution to these problems is extracting wisdom teeth. Generally, our team will recommend this treatment before the wisdom teeth come in. If problems with a wisdom tooth become too serious, you could find yourself facing a number of problems. For instance, your wisdom teeth can cause sinus problems and frequent headaches. If your tooth erupts incorrectly, you may be more prone to plaque and tartar buildup and gum infections.
