Schedule Your Free Consultation Improve Your Quality of Life

Dr. Lewis-Heywood and the team at Riverside Dental know the negative impact a missing tooth can have on your self-esteem. We want every patient to take pride in their teeth, smile with confidence, and go through life without worrying about their prosthetics. Dental implants not only produce a full beautiful smile, they also mimic the function of natural teeth, simplifying your daily routine. You will not have to worry about removing your prosthetics after meals, soaking overnight, and reapplying with messy adhesives. More importantly, dental implants are securely fixed within the jawbone, allowing you to eat the foods you desire, smile for pictures, and hold a conversation without the fear of your denture or other prosthetic slipping out of place.

Whether you are missing a single tooth or your entire dental arch, implants are a great investment in your quality of life. Don't suffer another day from tooth loss! Our Rio Rancho, NM, office serves people from throughout the greater Albuquerque area. Contact us online or reach us by phone:

Could not have been more pleased. Dr. Lewis-Howard’s COVID precautions were perfect (which is something I care about greatly). Her care and attention were beyond any dental care I’ve had back in Denver. I’m so happy to have found her practice. Highly recommended.

I became a patient of Dr. Hayworth Lewis when I first moved to ABQ. She was referred by co workers and became known as the main dentist that serviced employees at the center. After meeting with her it became obvious why she left a everlasting impression on those I worked with. Dr. Hayworth Lewis showed she cared about me as a patient and ensured my dental health. What a wonderful woman.

What happens during dental implant treatment?

Implants Become a Permanent Part of Your Smile

Surgically placed titanium posts hold your custom designed restoration securely in place. We use the Astra Tech Implant System by Dentsply Sirona, which offers predictable and beautiful results.

Dental Implant Timeline

Riverside Dental offers free consultations so our dentist can take x-rays and examine your teeth. Some people may need preparatory treatments such as bone grafts or tooth extraction prior to implant placement.

Place Implants

We begin treatment with an operation to place your dental implants. After numbing your mouth and administering sedation, our dentist makes small incisions in your gum line. Using top-of-the-line surgical guides to ensure precise placement, we embed small titanium posts within the jaw and gently close the incisions.

Over the next three to six months, the titanium posts fuse with the jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. We will provide you with temporary restorations to wear during this recovery period.

After osseointegration is complete, you will return to our Rio Rancho office for a second procedure, during which our dentist attaches small abutments to the titanium posts. Abutments are designed to secure your prosthetic teeth to the posts with maximum stability.

Restoration Design

At some point during the healing phase, we will take impressions of your mouth to design your permanent restoration. Depending on the number of missing teeth, we can craft an implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture. We send the design off to our trusted dental lab where expert technicians craft the restoration.

Finishing Touches

Once your restoration is ready, we will schedule a time for placement. Our dentist checks the overall look and fit, makes any necessary adjustments, and then secures the prosthetic to the abutments.

Still unsure about dental implants?

Consider These Important Long-Term Benefits

Prevent Bone Recession

Dental implants are the only treatment for missing teeth that will prevent bone loss in the jaw and face. By effectively replacing missing tooth roots, the jawbone receives the stimulation it needs to retain its tissues, keeping your bone structure intact and avoiding further tooth loss.

Improve Your Comfort

Over time, tooth loss can cause remaining teeth to shift out of place, bite irregularities, gum sensitivity, and other dental conditions. Choosing dental implants over traditional restorations will increase your long-term comfort and provide similar stability to natural teeth

Save Money

While dental implants are initially more expensive than traditional crowns, bridges, and dentures, over time they can save you money. Traditional restorations often need to be replaced more frequently; in addition, the implants themselves can last a lifetime with proper maintenance.

See for yourself how dental implants can empower you to have confidence in your appearance and live life to the fullest.
